Swan Market in Rochester

I haven't had German food this good since I was in Germany! Family style seating so be prepared to meet new people. Bonus: the beer comes in liters!

Bought 2 fillets for Valentine's Day. OMG! This place is awesome. I haven't had meat like this in years.

Great German Deli and everything is fresh.

I bought 1lb of mild beef sticks and 1 polish Kielbasa. When I got home my 3 boys devoured the beefsticks within 30 minutes. So yeah they are approved by teenagers. I will cook the kielbasa later tonight. The place is very family friendly. Be for-warned though it is on grubhub and the fantastic food they make can disappear in a heartbeat as I watched drivers come in and out multiple times. I wish I didn't have to go back to work as I would have had a beer.

If unsure, get the Sampler Plate, a little bit of everything, delicious. Sat by the entrance and it started snowing so it was cold everytime someone came in/left, pretty tight there. Friendly helpful staffs.

I visited with 2 work members based on the reviews. I was not disappointed. I chose the sample platter and it was huge. The waitress was very attentive. This is not fine dining but communal dining they server great beer as well and are open from Wednesday to Sunday. They also have a German butcher on premises,

Schnitzel and German potato salad are my favorite. Sampler plate is great if you can't make up your mind.

Love going in here! They have a great selection of sausages and other treats. There are also hundreds of neat pictures and doodads to look at while they're working. If you're free Saturday morning stop in and have a meal, but come early as it fills up quick.

Probably the best steaks I’ve ever had at home. Ribeye cooked on the grill.

A great lunch spot in the City. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Get the sampler platter so you can get a taste of much of the food they offer. You may find the exact thing you like or you may get the sampler every time... no matter what, you will love your meal.

The food and beer are on point, and it's a great place for a small group to socialize.Also, Bacon.

Loved the Jager Schnitzel w German potato salad and red cabbage. Get there early, seating is limited and after we left there was a very long line. Lunch begins at 11. We got there at 10:30 on a Saturday.

Swans has the most delicious sausages, great staff, and entirely reasonable prices. This time through we also bought some soft chocolate-covered spice cookies that I'm now in love with!

A+ food and atmosphere. Barry (the owner) was nice enough to put together a sandwich for me even though the kitchen had already closed. Highly recommend the bologna variety sandwich!Hot lunch is only served from 11am - 2pm Weds thru Saturday!

Food was incredible and so was the atmosphere. When you go to eat there you just grab any open chair at any of the tables and join the group conversation. Service can be a little slow, but the experience and food more than makes up for it

This place has has a dual purpose, one part is the best deli I have come across in Rochester serving authentic German meats and smoked meat.Second part is the absolute best German restaurant i have come across in my life. Being in this place I feel like I'm back home in Germany. Everyone behind the counter is so professional and it feels like a big family in there.

Excellent German sausages, cold cuts, liverwurst; fresh cut bacon, beef and pork. Fresh red cabbage, sauerkraut. Shelves of traditional German products from various mustards to chocolates. The only German meet market in the city of Rochester.

As always, a wonderful time at Swan's market. We arrived on a busy Saturday at 1115. As all seats were filled we were quickly offered drinks while we stood and waited. It's a small space that warmed with the folks inside, which was perfect on a chilly February morning. We were seated after about 15 minutes. Liters of Spaten and cans of Minute Maid lemonade were our party's drinks, I can attest to a delicious and refreshing Spaten. We each ordered the Sampler Platter. It came with a selection of dishes and sides. It was delicious; flavors melded well and very filling. The soup of the day was Corn Chowder and was excellent, too. Service was quick and friendly, though the staff was very busy. I will be glad to return.

Great setup to meet complete strangers at meal times. Come alone, or with friends, get seated family-style. Authentic German menu. If you are not sure what you might like the sampler plates are the way to go! Guten Appetit!

Fabulous Jagerschnitzel with German Potato Salad and noodles on the side, all covered with a to die for mushroom gravy, not to mention the dark german beer to wash it all down!

Besides the incredible authentic German food, the atmosphere is great! We sat a table for 8 and shared conversation with everyone. We thought we were the one couple at their table, come to find out there were 2 other couples and 2 individuals. By the time we finished we didn't want to leave! Best veener schnitzel ever!

Wonderful food and wonderful people. Have done business with them for a 20 years and cant say I was ever disappointed. My family and I have also done catering with them. Catering was so good we've booked another event this year .

This place is absolutely amazing. Super casual with community tables you can easily call this a low key beer hall. But the best part is all the cured, seasoned, butchered, sausaged meat that they make is absolutely delish. I tried the sampler plate. All was delish. Very friendly staff. Eclectic lovable decoration.

I've always rated Swan"s as five star, and they continue to be closer to 10 stars! I had some venison hot dogs and brats made at the market, and the meats are fantastic. I had contacted the store for prices, and to find what types of meats they are able to make with venison, and they responded within an hour. The full line of what can be made with venison is similar to others, except there are also the traditional German meats that are available as well. The prices are low and the quality is better. Definitely my new go-to for venison hot dogs and sausages.

Most great place, if you like German foods

This place is great. No matter what you think of German food, this is the legit experience. Sure, lots of starch and protein but everything here is made here including the sausage. Everything is butchered here and sold here. The lunch menu is awesome particularly with a glass or three of Paulaner. A true Rochester original.
